16 West – Fish in Circle
Wilson Chaney – Donor
Jesus called the fishermen to be fishers of men. Jesus used the metaphor to represent evangelism in the proclamation of the gospel by which people are saved from their sins. Christians began using the fish as a symbol of Christianity in the first century. Three symbolizes the Trinity, and three fish are sometimes found on baptistry fonts or windows signifying that Christians are baptized, “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. —Matthew 3:16
