Welcome to our first issue of the Caller Extra, a new online newsletter to fill the gap between the bi-weekly issues of the First Christian Caller, especially while we're not hearing/viewing announcements and updates in church.
We'll archive these, as well as our First Christian Caller newsletters on our website, so you can read at your leisure.

Share Your Mother's Day Photo
|
This Sunday, May 10, is Mother's Day, so we'll take a few moments during our worship service to honor the mothers among us, and the mothers of us. Please share a photo of your mother or a photo of you and your children -- one photo per household, please -- by or before noon on Thursday, May 7, to be included in our visual collage! Snap a pic with your phone and email it to churchoffice@fccbrla.org, or use the button below to send one from your computer.

Life After COVID-19
As our area begins preparation for a phased re-opening and softening of our Stay-at-Home order, we have prepared a survey to help us understand how you are feeling about potential return to church in our sanctuary in the next few weeks. Please participate in this survey at the link below. It should only take a few minutes of your time.

Change of Routine and Isolation Can Raise Concerns
|
A lack of structured time and routines like work, meetings, and getting the children to school may loosen boundaries around when it is okay to drink and how much one may choose to consume. We may also disconnect from the tools that help our social, spiritual, and emotional well-being, making us vulnerable to fear.
If you or someone you love needs to connect, online resources are available, especially now:
Pastor David Chisham is also available to talk with you: 703-220-6011, or email him, here.

Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. John 6:11
The COVID-19 pandemic has touched all of our lives and all parts of the Baton Rouge community. The less fortunate in the Greater Baton Rouge area are among the most affected. In addition to those currently served by our local food banks, there’s been an influx of clients who have never needed services before. Many businesses have had to close their doors and now their employees need food assistance; and these agencies, which have been hit with shortages of food, funds and volunteers due to the pandemic, are struggling to keep up with demand.
How we can help:
DONATE FOOD
Donated food items may be delivered to our Fellowship Hall (east, covered entrance) weekly on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Members of the Outreach Committee will provide curb-side pickup service; so you won’t even have to get out of your car! Food items will be delivered to SOUTHEAST MINISTRIES on a weekly basis.
Suggested donations:
Jelly, instant potatoes, Jiffy cornbread mix, mac & cheese, crackers, bags of apples, oranges, onions, or potatoes, rubbing alcohol or other anti-viral cleaning agents.
DONATE FUNDS
Visit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for more information and to donate. The Guaranty Foundation and GMFS Mortgage are matching donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000 each for a total match of up to $50,000. These companies are now asking the Baton Rouge community to join them in “Banking On BR” and supporting their neighbors by donating to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
DONATE TIME
Volunteers Needed as New Requests Rise
The Food Bank is asking for volunteers to help sustain regular operations as well as the increased demand for food services. Volunteer requirements and restrictions are available here.
