This Sunday at First Christian Church

Rev. David Chisham continues his Church on the Move series as we hear and learn more about the early church, this Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.

Our Sunday worship is live, in the church sanctuary, and livestreamed to our website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. We hope to see you there! You can sign in, enter prayer requests, and follow the service bulletin, here.

In light of the latest CDC and State health guidelines, as well as local testing rates, we have opened seating on the west side of the sanctuary, and mask usage remains optional on that side. The east side will remain marked for spacing and required mask usage. Please continue to consider your immunity and risk factors in your selection of seating.

We remain committed to providing our service online for those unable, for whatever reason, to join us in person. To join services online, click the button below for your favorite online viewing platform:

Sunday Class for Adults

Dak McInnis facilitates the Adult Sunday class for an in-depth discussion of the sermon. The class meets both in person in the church library and via Zoom, immediately following the Sunday morning worship service (about 11:15 a.m.). Study notes will be available here, later this week. Attending via Zoom? Click the red button!

Choir Rehearsals Return on Wednesday, May 18!

Our choir programs will resume next Wednesday, May 18, with our first rehearsals in 15 months!

Lucy Cody will lead the Women's Chorus with rehearsals on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. All ladies who enjoy singing are invited!

Our music director, Aaron Turnipseed, resumes rehearsals of the Chancel Choir on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Adults — those who formerly sang with the Chancel Choir as well as those who may have discovered their voices during this time — are invited to join the FCC Chancel Choir.

Congratulations to …

Doug Shaffer, head diving coach at LSU, who led LSU divers Montserrat Gutierrez Lavenant and Anne Tuxen to a very successful Women's Platform performance at diving competition in Tokyo, and will now prepare for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
"As I reflect on this experience at the FINA Diving World Cup in the Olympic venue, I admire and applaud the adversity all the athletes and coaches have overcome in order to pursue the Olympic dream," said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. "I am thankful to have been a part of this experience and look forward to this summer and a return to Tokyo." (Clipped from LSU press release; read more, here.)
