Robert Evans

Robert Llewellyn Evans, 88, slipped peacefully into the place prepared for him on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Bob was a member of First Christian Church for many years where he served as an elder and board member and began his involvement in community outreach. Bob returned to the church of his childhood, First United Methodist, in 2001. His epitaph, written on the hearts of his loved ones, shall be "He was a good man, loving and generous". This is how he will be remembered by family and friends.

Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd. on Tuesday, August 6, at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Bob's memory may be offered to the First United Methodist Church music program or the American Cancer Society.

He is survived by his wife Janice Evans; daughter Sally Bess Fernandez and son Robert Evans, Jr. (Debbie); stepdaughters Kerin Spears (David Butler); and Kristin Peek (Brian); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Barrie Smith; and brother-in-law Rod Banks.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Niles and Mary Ellen Evans, sisters Virginia Carradine and Winona Banks, and stepdaughter Stacey Richard.

Please continue to hold the family and their friends in your prayers.

O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ destroyed death, and brought life and immortality to light: Grant that your servant Robert, being raised with him, may know the strength of his presence, and rejoice in his eternal glory. In these and all things, we ask in the name of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
