For Your Reflection....

A BRIDGE FOR COMMUNITY

Let’s be honest...explaining to others who we are as a church is not always an easy task.  With a name like “Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)”, you’ve said a mouthful, but you might find people looking at you like you haven’t clarified anything; or worse they may get the wrong impression.  I remember speaking with a woman about my church – upon hearing that we were part of the Christian Church (D.O.C.) she exclaimed, “that sounds like one of those ‘bible-thumping’ churches!  Are you one of those ‘bible-thumping’ churches?”  I explained that yes, we do believe in the Bible, but no, we probably are not the stereotypical ‘bible-thumping’ church that she is thinking of...read more

We are so happy to hear that you may visit with us.  For a first visit, the best time to come is to one of our Sunday morning worship services, either at 8:30am or 10:50am  As you drive onto our campus at 8484 Old Hammond Hwy., we have plenty of parking available on both sides of our campus.  There are parking spots specifically designated for visitors on the west side, close to the sanctuary.  Our campus has a number of buildings on it, which can be a little confusing, but there are signs to guide you.  The first building you'll see, which is a large, octagonal shaped building with a tall roofline, is our sanctuary building.  The main entry doors to the sanctuary face the courtyard (opposite Old Hammond Highway)--please come through those doors.  Once in the sanctuary narthex you'll see friendly faces who are glad you are here--a worship bulletin with the morning's order of worship can be found near the interior doors to the sanctuary.  You're welcome to find a seat in any of the pews.  Words for our hymns and songs and scriptures will be projected on a wall at the front of the sanctuary, and we also have hymnals and bibles in the pews if that's more comfortable.  We hope you will share your name with us at the beginning of the worship service--we want to learn your name and welcome you properly!  Communion with be given toward the end of the service--our table is always open to you.  Our services are about an hour long.
