For Your Reflection....

Let’s be honest...explaining to others who we are as a church is not always an easy task.  With a name like “Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)”, you’ve said a mouthful, but you might find people looking at you like you haven’t clarified anything; or worse they may get the wrong impression.  I remember speaking with a woman about my church – upon hearing that we were part of the Christian Church (D.O.C.) she exclaimed, “that sounds like one of those ‘bible-thumping’ churches!  Are you one of those ‘bible-thumping’ churches?”  I explained that yes, we do believe in the Bible, but no, we probably are not the stereotypical ‘bible-thumping’ church that she is thinking more

Children Worship & Wonder

Following the Children’s Moment at our 10:50 a.m. worship service, children ages 3 through 2nd Grade are invited to Children Worship & Wonder.

Children Worship & Wonder is a worship experience specifically for children, and an exciting way of approaching faith formation with them. It recognizes children as spiritual beings, who already have a relationship with God, because they are indeed God's children. Children Worship & Wonder offers young people an opportunity to learn about God as they experience God.

This Montessori based model provides a time of worship just for them. Stories of God are told in a way that allows the children to listen and enter into the stories themselves. The children are then given time to respond to those stories in a variety of ways: through art projects, reading, working with the stories, or simply by being quiet and spending time talking to God. Children also learn the meaning of church traditions and participate in worship practices.

Children Worship & Wonder begins the new year every August and meets every Sunday throughout the year with a brief break at the end of July, early August. Please contact Rev. Laura if you have any questions, concerns or would like to help with this program.

Please take a look at the two videos below which explain the Children Worship & Wonder program in more detail. Please start with Part 1 on top, followed by Part 2 underneath. All together the videos are about 13 minutes long. They provide a WONDERFUL explanation of this fantastic program!
